Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a plugging method of a heat exchanger pipe and a temporary plug by which the temporary plug, which is used until a leaking or damaged cooling or heating pipe is replaced, is certainly attached and prevented from falling off during operation. CONSTITUTION:A plug 10 consists of a flexible sleeve 11, a stem 12a which is inserted into the sleeve 11 and has a tapered circumference, a tapered plug 12 having a threaded part 12b and a threaded hole 12c, and a nut 13 to be screwed on the threaded part 12b. To attach the plug 10 to the end of a cooling pipe 4, the tapered plug 12 is previously inserted into the sleeve 11 so that the outside diameter of the sleeve 11 is smaller than the inside diameter of the cooling pipe 4, the sleeve 11 is inserted into the end of the cooling pipe 4 and the nut 13 is screwed on the threaded part 12b and turned, so that the sleeve 11 is expanded in outside diameter and is subjected to compression bonding to the inside face of the cooling pipe 4.
