Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain an information recorder/reproducer in which long period reliability of a medium for recording/reproducing data can be improved by prolonging a life in actual use of an information recording/reproducing medium. CONSTITUTION:The information recorder/reproducer comprises, in order to decide a life of a medium, a reproducing analog signal measuring circuit 36 for measuring a DC level of a reproducing signal of an amplitude or a non- recorded part of the reproducing signal, a gate circuit 37 for gating the amplitude or the level of the reproducing signal to limit it to a predetermined part of an add-on area, and an alarm unit 38 for informing, when a life of an optical disk is wasted, it to a user of the recorder/reproducer.
