Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a transmission-type optical fiber area sensor which can suppress the spread of emission light, make uniform the distribution of quantity of light at an inspection region, easily spread the width of an inspection region without increasing the number of optical fibers, maintain the diameter of the optical fiber cable to be thin, and can drastically reduce manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION:Light is applied to an inspection region with a certain width from one sensor head and the transmitted light is received by the other sensor head. The sensor head is provided with a lens 3 for making nearly parallel light emitted from an optical fiber 4 being provided in front of the edge of the optical fiber 4 and a reflector 1 which is provided in front of the lens 3, where a plurality of discontinuous reflection surfaces 2 are regularly laid out. and which reflects light from the lens 3 in a beam shape from each reflection surface 2 to the inspection region.
