Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To detect various components of exhaust gas from an internal-combustion engine in real time. CONSTITUTION:Means 2(a light source 4 and a prism 5) for projecting light of specific wavelength and a light receiving element 3 for detecting the intensity I0. of incident light from the means 2 are disposed on the opposite sides of an engine exhaust passage 1. A calculation unit 6 calculates the concentrations of various exhaust gas components based on a relational equation according to Lambert-Beer law using the signals from the elements 2, 3 as a data.
