Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain an antitumor agent containing polysaccharides of Corcharus oltorious L. as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:This antitumor agent is obtained by extracting a stem or a leaf of Corcharus oltorious L. with water or hot water, then treating the resultant extract with an organic solvent, recovering precipitated polysaccharides and using the resultant polysaccharides as an active ingredient thereof. Since the polysaccharides can be produced from the Corcharus oltorious L. according to an extremely simple method, a large amount of the antitumor agent can be provided at a low cost. This antitumor agent can be utilized not only as a medicine but also as a food having the antitumor activity imparted thereto by adding the antitumor agent as an additive to the food.
