Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a detecting apparatus capable of detecting opening/ closing situation of an eyelid precisely from the optical standpoint. CONSTITUTION:Infrared rays are projected to an eyeball E or an eyelid from a light emitting means (a light-emitting circuit 20, an infrared light emitting diode), and reflected infrared rays from the eyeball E or the eyelid are detected by a reflected light detecting means (a light-receiving circuit 30 an infrared light photodiode). Since opening/closing situation of an eyelid is detected by an eyelid opening/closing situation assessing means (a sample-holding circuit 50, a comparator circuit 60) based on the detected reflected-infrared-light, the eyelid opening/closing situation can be detected optically, which can be applied to a doze preventing apparatus by setting the apparatus to give certain alarm if an eyelid continues to close for a preset time so that a doze is prevented for sure.
