Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To prevent dyeing of a surface layer part of a receiving layer by a method wherein a part to which dye is transferred is subjected to post-heat- treatment by the same thermal head in succession after energy being necessary for forming one picture element by transfer of the dye is given. CONSTITUTION:A transfer start temperature of dye of a thermal transfer sheet is about 100 deg.C, for instance, and when this temperature is reached, the dye is transferred from the thermal transfer sheet to a receiving layer. The glass transition temperature of the receiving layer is lower than that of the thermal transfer sheet, about 60 deg.C, for instance, and the dye diffuses into the receiving layer at this temperature or above. Therefore a control is made so as to attain a temperature (T0 in the figure) being lower than the transfer start temperature of the dye of the thermal transfer sheet and higher than the glass transition temperature of the receiving layer by giving a pulse of which a voltage value is small, as shown by V2 in the figure. As the result, the dye transferred to the receiving layer diffuses into it during the post-heat-time (t) for this purpose. Dyeing of the surface of the receiving layer can be prevented in this way and an effect of the outside can be prevented substantially.
