Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide a simple structured gripper which is quickly and surely operated even to impact motion. CONSTITUTION: Each one of open gears 58 and 57 and closing gears are arranged between an operation member 51 and jaws 14. Each of the open gears 58 and 57 has a inclined face 58 working together with corresponding face 57 to be arranged in a jaw 14. Each of the closing gears has an inclined guide face which is arranged on the operation member 51 to work together with the abutting face arranged to the jaw 14 to close each jaw 14 through each rolling body 61 belonging to each of the closing gears. Both of the closing gears are constituted so as to lock each jaw 14 in a connection state at each closing position. The operation member 51 is constituted as a piston rod 51 of a thrust piston 42 operated by a double acting type work medium.
