METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF METAL

PURPOSE: To obtain a cast block, having good quality by forming sufficient gas cushion between a mold and a metal in all stages of the casting. CONSTITUTION: In a continuous casting method of a metal, in which multiple hot-top molds are used and the pressurizing gas and lubricator are introduced into the molds, the introduction of the gas into each mold is executed from at least one of gas inlet pipe disposed with a control valve for setting gas flow rate, a pressure sensor for sensing the gas pressure and an instrument for measuring the gas flow rate. Then, in a first casting stage from the time when the molten metal starts to fill into the mold to the time when the molten metal enters into a cooling range, the gas flow rate in each gas supply pipe is held at a prescribed value and in a second casting stage after the first stage, the gas flow rate in each gas supply pipe is controlled, so as to hold the gas pressure in each gas supplying pipe at a prescribed value.
