Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of diameter of a honeycomb body by continuously measuring the circumferential length of the honeycomb body during winding and winding till the circumferential length reaches a specified value. CONSTITUTION:An encorder 3 detects the rotation of the core metal 1 and sends the detected signal to the controller 7. The sensor 4 consists of a laser sensor which detects the traveling distance of a winding body (honeycomb body) in the rotation direction of the outer surface by noncontact method. Cutters 5, 5', 6, 6' are disposed near the winding body 10 to cut a plate 8 and wavy plate 9 according to signals from the controller 7. The controller 7 consists of a controlling part 70, arithmetic part 71, judging part 72, and controlling part 73. The controller 70 controls the encorder 3 and the sensor 4, and processes the output signal from the encorder 3 and the sensor 4 to send signals as the output to the arithmetic part 71. The arithmetic part 71 records the output value of the controller 70 and operates to determine the moving distance (circumferential length) of the outermost surface of the winding body per one rotation of the core metal.
