PURPOSE:To facilitate wire rope inspection operations for improvement of safety of a hoist, by assembling one and up insulation covered material wires in each strand constructing a hoisting wire rope. CONSTITUTION:One or up insulation covered material wires 14(141-14n) are assembled in each strand constructing a hoisting wire rope and each end of the material wires 14 are short circuited to make the other end the detecting terminal. And, a detecting circuit 25 of a broken material wire detects breakage of the material wire 14 by the current conducting condition after controlling each of the material wires for current conduction. Further a detecting circuit 33 applies an electrical voltage to the insulating cover of the material wire through these material wire 14 and other strand material wire which is not insulated and wear condition of the material wire 14 is detected from the degree of change of voltage on current due to a drop in insulating resistance of the insulating cover. In order to make circuits 25, 33 automatically switchable, a circuit switch is 22' is installed and a detecting signal of each circuit 25, 33 is arithmetically operated by a microcomputer 37 for identification of the degree of damage.
