PURPOSE:To produce an iron powder carrier for a developer at low cost by washing with water the iron power obtained by selecting the iron powder of the desired particle size range by sieving the coarse iron dust of an iron mill, removing the protuberances of each particle with a pulverizer or the like, and then, forming a film on the surface of each iron particle. CONSTITUTION:The iron powder carrier for the developer is obtained by separating the iron particles in the desired size range by sieving, washing them with water, treating them with the pulverizer or the like to remove the protuberances of the particles, and then, forming a film on each particle. It is preferred to sieve the coarse iron particles by the wet sieving machine, and a preferable film to be formed on the surface of each particle is the film of Fe3O4, thus permitting the material cost to be remarkably reduced by use of the coarse iron dust from the iron mill by product, as compared with the conventional processed, and the manufacturing process, such as oxidation, reduction, and granulation, to be made unnecessary.
