SUPPORTING CATALYST, ITS PRODUCTION AND METHOD OF USING SAME FOR PRODUCTION OF VINYL ACETATE

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst useful for preparation of vinyl acetate from ethylene, acetic acid and oxygen in a gas phase by dissolving salts of Pd, K and Cd to give a soln., atomizing the soln. by means of ultrasonics, impregnating a carrier material with the atomized soln., and thereafter drying the carrier material. CONSTITUTION: For preparation of a supported catalyst contg. Pd, K and Cd, the salts of Pd, K and Cd are dissolved in a suitable solvent (such as acetic acid) to give a soln., which is atomized by means of ultrasonics. A carrier material (such as silica) is impregnated with the atomized soln. once or repeatedly, and dried. The respective impregnation periods and the subsequent period till the beginning of drying are selected shortly within such a way that the soln. volume for respective impregnation is at least 5-60% of the fine pore volume of the carrier material and that the coating of at least 5-60% of the carrier particulate volume contains the salts.
