POINTING DEVICE FOR COMPUTER

PURPOSE:To enable the device to be used without a desk and to be portable by using a specific pointing device. CONSTITUTION:This device consists of a rotatable post 4, a bar 3 which is slidably inserted into the post 4 at right angles, and a control grip 2 which is provided rotatably at one end part of the bar 3. A cursor on a display 2 is moved on the basis of the angle theta of rotation of the bar 3 around the post 4 and the distance L between the control grip 2 and post 4. Therefore, an operator moves the control grip 2 to and away the post 4 while gripping the control grip 2 to freely move the cursor on the display for the computer, thereby pointing an optional position on the display. Further, when the post 4 is fitted to the chassis of the computer, the pointing device can be integrated with the computer body, so it can conveniently be carried on hand.
