UNDERWATER ANTIFOULING COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain an under water antifouling composition which can sustainedly release a highly safe antifouling effective component for a long time by mixing a specified polymer with an N-phenylmaleimide derivative. CONSTITUTION:A polymer of a molecular weight of 3000-400000, obtained by polymerizing a reactional product of 1mol of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having a sulfonic group with 0.8-1.2mol of a higher aliphatic amine of formula I [wherein R is 12-20C (un)saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group; R is H or 1-6 C alkyl; and R is R , R or 1-6 C alkyl substituted with amino which may be substituted with 1-6 C alkyll or a copolymer of a molecular weight of 3000-400000 prepared by polymerizing this reactional product with 0-70wt.% unsaturated monomer copolymerizable therewith at 0-120 deg.C in the presence of a polymerization initiator is prepared. This polymer or copolymer is mixed with an N-phenylmaleimide derivative of formula II (wherein X and X are each H or halogen; Y is halogen or lower alkyl; and (n) is 1-3) in a weight ratio of the higher aliphatic amine in the polymer or copolymer to this derivative of 1:(0.1-10) to obtain the objective underwater antifouling composition.
