Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide a new compound having anticoccidial action and useful for preventing the epidemic outbreak of coccidiosis. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I [R is (substituted) 5 or 6-membered heterocyclic group], e.g. 2-[4-(5-chloro-2-pyridylamino)-3,5-dichlorophenyl]-1,2,4- triazine-3,5-(2H,4H)-dione. The compound of formula I can be produced by cyclizing an intermediate of formula II (X is eliminable group; Y is electron attracting group) with an organic acid alkali metal salt such as potassium acetate in acetic acid, etc., converting the group Y of the resultant compound of formula III into a carboxylic acid derivative in acetic acid in the presence of a strong acid such as hydrochloric acid and removing the carboxyl group by the decarboxylation reaction with thioglycolic acid.
