Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a lubricant for fiber capable of providing excellent spinnability and stretchability so as to provide a synthetic fiber staple having good quality. CONSTITUTION:This lubricant for fiber contains >=1wt.% random or block type polymer (X) obtained by condensation reaction of (I) a component selected from a group consisting of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, an acid anhydride, its lower alkyl ester and their mixtures, (II) a component selected from a group consisting of polyhydric alcohols, alkanolamines having two or more hydroxyl groups in one molecule, an alkylene oxide adduct having =600 molecular weight, an alkylene oxide adduct having >=600 molecular weight of polyalkylene oxide chain of a compound containing a functional group containing an active hydrogen and their mixture.
