PREPARATION OF 5-CYANOVALERAMIDE

5-Cyanovaleramide is prepared by reaction of adiponitrile with water at a temperature from 50 to 200 DEG C in the presence of supported catalysts containing non-ionised copper, characterised in that 1 to 15 mol of water per mole of adiponitrile and a residence time of 5 to 60 minutes are used.
