Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide an elevator which is suitable for a building having floor wherein three sides or more of the periphery of an elevation passage can be utilized as an elevator hall. CONSTITUTION:An elevation passage 1 is divided into two sections by means of a line for intercoupling corner parts positioned facing each other and cars 2a and 2b are formed in a shape in plane which is formed in a shape corresponding to the shape in cross section of each of two division elevation passages. In entrance doors 4a1, 4a2, 4b1, and 4b2 of the cars 2a and 2b, respectively, at least two sets of the entrance doors are formed with respective corners therebetween.
