A control byte 34 of header encodes an automatic network route designation mode, tolly multicast mode, the mode of remote access to a multicast tolly and multicast tolly transition mode. Based on the route designation mode specified by the control byte 34, a route designation field 32 is composed of a different format. The route control circuit of node 12 calculates the optimum route through a packet transmission network 1 and sends out the packet. The respective nodes 12 of packet determination points control a switching bus according to information contents in the header. |
