Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To enable route designation according to various protocols by sending a packet onto a transmission link while controlling a route in response to a transmission link label and a multicast tolly address in a header. CONSTITUTION: Respective terminal nodes 12 are connected to a user station 15 and the header is generated for designating the route of packet for the data of user. A control byte 34 of header encodes an automatic network route designation mode, tolly multicast mode, the mode of remote access to a multicast tolly and multicast tolly transition mode. Based on the route designation mode specified by the control byte 34, a route designation field 32 is composed of a different format. The route control circuit of node 12 calculates the optimum route through a packet transmission network 1 and sends out the packet. The respective nodes 12 of packet determination points control a switching bus according to information contents in the header.
