MAGNETIC RECORDING/REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To eliminate erroneous use by providing a section for temporarily storing data before it is written into an IC memory affixed in order to manage program information, and a section for reading out the data and temporarily storing the data therein, comparing the contents in the storing sections and then making a decision whether writing operation must be executed actually based on the comparison result. CONSTITUTION:When recording into a video body section 101 is started, a decision is made whether program information should be written into an IC memory 201 affixed to a video tape 2. In other words, current date information and other necessary information of recording speed, program, and the like are transferred from the body section 101 to a program information memory section 102 upon start of recording while furthermore a writing command into the memory 201 is transmitted to a control section 105. The control section 105 transfers writing information sequentially to the memory section 102 and a writing information memory section 108 while furthermore reads out writing address information from the memory 201 and stores the writing address information in a temporary memory section 106. Information stored in the memory 108 is then compared with the information stored in the memory 106 and if agreement can not be confirmed, information stored in the memory section 108 is written into the memory 201.
