METHOD FOR MORDANTING AND DYEING SYNTHETIC FIBER

PURPOSE:To enable dyeing of a hydrophobic synthetic fiber with a mordant dye and a multi-color type animal or plant pigment which could not be applied hitherto. CONSTITUTION:Mordant treatment of a synthetic fiber is carried out using an organometallic compound excellent in affinity with a synthetic fiber, capable of readily absorbing and capable of coloring by forming a complex compound with a mordant dye and a multi-colored type animal or plant pigment as a mordant. In this case, an organic solvent capable of dissolving the mordant and retaining high temperature of >=100 deg.C without boiling even at ordinary pressure, having co-solubility with water and >=100 deg.C boiling point or mixed liquid of this solvent and water is used as a medium. The mordanted synthetic fiber is dyed with a mordant dye or multi-colored type animal or plant pigment using the organic solvent or the mixed liquid of the organic solvent and water.
