Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide an industrial process for the production of 5-amino-4- chloro-3-methylpyrazole hydrochloride useful as intermediate for pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals and photographic chemicals. CONSTITUTION:5-Amino-4-chloro-3-methylpyrazole hydrochloride having high purity can be produced by reacting 3-chloro-3-butenonitrile with hydrazine, subjecting the resultant 5-amino-3-methylpyrazole to the following chlorination reaction without separating and purifying the intermediate, neutralizing the reaction product, extracting the neutralized material with an organic solvent and crystallizing the objective substance in the form of hydrochloride.
