Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To enhance the reliability of a synchronous machine aithrespect to defect by an operation method such that at least one exciting winding of a rotor of the synchronous machine is supplied with power from DC voltage Uzk of an intermediate circuit of a converter and at least one stator winding of the synchronous machine is supplied with power from the converter at the time of start up, and then the supply of power is switched to one from a distribution network in a normal operation. CONSTITUTION: In the case that one of current converters 18, 19 has a defect or accident in normal operation, an exciting winding is supplied with power from an other non-defective converter.
