Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a method and device for production of a glass material by which a glass material having a similar shape to the shape of an optical element for a molded lens at low cost with a short tact. CONSTITUTION:Molten glass 17 is made to flow through the flow port 12 to prepare a glass material having desired weight. At temp. over the softening point, the glass material is shaped by cooling and pressing with a die 18. Further the contact surface of the heated bed 22 is left as a free surface. Thus, the obtd. glass material can be used for molding.
