Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a cylinder block, in which deformation of a cylinder bore and a top deck can be prevented when a head bolt is fastened. CONSTITUTION:In a cylinder block 1, a connection part 5 of an adjacent bore wall in a siamese bore wall 2 and a cylinder block outside wall bolt boss 6 positioned on the center line of the connection part, 5 are connected together by a double bridge, which consists of a lower bridge 11 and an upper bridge 12 situated right above the lower bridge 11. As synthetic bending moment E0, which acts on the bolt boss 6 during fastening a head bolt, is situated inside the plane of the bore wall connection part 5 and is received by the bore wall connection part 5 provided with extremely huge inplane directional stiffness, deformation of the bolt boss 6 is suppressed, and as a result, quaternary deformation of the cylinder bore and an inclination of a top deck are also suppressed.
