Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide a medicine adequate for use in the treatment of diseases particularly related with the regulation abnormality of the immune system. CONSTITUTION: This medicine contains the p40 subunit of the natural or recombined or, in some cases, modified mammal interleukin-12 (IL-12). The p40 subunit is preferably obtd. from the tissues or cells derived from humans. The medicine is used for the treatment of, diseases related with the adjustment abnormality of activity mediated with the IL-12 for example, the systemic erythematosus, Wegner syndromes or autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatic arthritis, cell or virus infection and certain solid tumors or leukemia. The p40 subunit is used for detection of the IL-12 in, for example, the human body fluid in accordance with the fact that the IL-12 activity is specifically hindered by p40. Conversely, the IL-12p p40 subunit is detected by using a diagnostic medicine contg. the IL-12.
