MAGNETIC HEAD GRINDER

PURPOSE:To improve a finishing precision by providing a tip mounting means, which supports a tip so that its tape sliding face is projected from the outer circumferential face of a spindle, when a magnetic head tip mounted in a freely rotational spindle is ground by a lapping tape. CONSTITUTION:In a process, 10 which a lapping tape is fed from a supply reel and wound in a winding reel after rounding the predetermined angle range of the outer circumferential face of a spindle via a guide shaft, the spindle is rotated, so that a tape sliding face of a magnetic head tip supported on the spindle outer circumferential face is ground. In this grinder, the spindle consists of a main spindle 18 and an upper spindle 21 moving along a sliding shaft 27, and a chuck part, consisting of a tip mounting face 25 and a tip chuck 19 is provided on the upper face of the main spindle 18. The tip mounting means is constructed in such a way as pressing the chucked tip, which projects from the spindle outer circumferential face, by a pressing shaft 22 provided in the upper spindle 21.
