Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a metallic coating compsn. excellent in base-opacifying properties and capable of manifesting pearly milk white color and luster suppressed in blackish color tone, and an industrial process for forming a coating film thereof. CONSTITUTION:A metallic coating compsn. comprises (A) a titanium dioxide pigment, (B) a scaly aluminum pigment borne on a pigment, (C) a coloring pigment other than titanium dioxide, (D) a pearlescent pigment, and (E) a coating film-forming resin, provided that (A)/(B)=2/8 to 6/4, [(A)+(B)]/(C)=99/1 to 80/20, (D)/[(A) to (C)]=20/100 to 60/100, and [(A) to (D)]/(E)=10/100 to 60/100 in terms of weight ratio. An object is base-coated with the metallic coating compsn., then top-coated with a clear coating, followed by simultaneous curing of the two coats to form a metallic coating film. Thus, the foregoing process is a two-coat and one-bake process for forming a metallic coating film.
