Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide the method for forming patterned coating films capable of easily and effectively forming blurred patterns onto a material to be coated. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic patterns are formed by the following method using a pattern forming coating material prepd. by compounding colored pigments and/or bright materials at need with magnetic material powder: (1) The magnetic patterns are produced on the coating film surface of the material to be coated by relatively moving a magnetic force source or the material to be coated during coating of the material to be coated with the coating material contg. the pattern forming pigments and/or while the coating film applied thereon is in a fluid state. (2) The magnetizable material to be coated is partially magnetized by using the prescribed magnetic force source and this magnetic force source is parted before coating and the patterns are formed on the coating film by utilizing the residual magnetism. Or (3) the patterns are formed by controlling the magnetic force source by a computer. As a result, the patterns corresponding to the partially applied magnetization are produced on the coating film surface.
