Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of evaporation gas produced in a fuel tank without impairing startability. CONSTITUTION:Fuel in a fuel tank 11 is pressurized by an in-tank pump 12, and fed to a delivery pipe 15 through a feed side fuel pressure regulating valve 14. Excess fuel in the delivery tube is recovered in the fuel tank through a return side fuel pressure regulating valve 18. When an internal combustion engine is not in the start condition, and the temperature of fuel in the delivery pipe is higher than a threshold value, a bypass shut-off valve 17 set in a bypass tube 16 is opened, and the fuel pressure is controlled downward beyond a specified level for the valve 18 by the valve 14. Therefore, the excess fuel is recovered in the fuel tank through the bypass tube 16 an shut-off valve 17 and thus evaporation gas is suppressed from producing. At starting, the fuel pressure is regulate to a high level by the valve 18 so as to improve startability.
