MAGNETIC RECORDING OR REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To reduce crosstalk between heads and to make a high speed transfer possible even when a track pitch is several mum by making a distance between recording tracks formed by plural closest magnetic gaps provided on the same multichannel magnetic head at least twice the track pitch. CONSTITUTION:By driving a magnetic tape 1 in the longitudinal direction 8 and rotating a rotary drum 3 provided inclined at a certain angle to the tape 1, magnetic heads 20 and 21 are obliquely travelled on the tape 1. At this time, electric current corresponding to a recording signal is conducted to the coils of the heads 20 and 21 and by magnetic field generated on magnetic gaps 13a to 13d, a signal is recorded on the tape 1. That is, recording loci A1 and B1 are formed by the gaps 13a and 13b and then, recording loci C1 and D1 are formed by the gaps 13c and 13d. Recording tracks A2 and B2 and C2 and D2 are formed likewise and recording patterns are formed on the tape 1. Thus, the distance between the tracks by the gaps is made at least twice as much as the pitch.
