PURPOSE:To simplify a mechanism and to reduce cost by engaging gear strings rotated integrally with take-up and rewind reels with a second gear interlocked with an originally driving first gear simultaneously via a slipping means by an engaging means. CONSTITUTION:When a tape cassette is set or just before reproduction is started, the gear strings 31 and 33 on a take-up reel board 30 and the gear strings 35, 37 and 38 on a rewind reel board 34 are engaged simultaneously with the second gear 27. And the rotation of a pulley 16 is transmitted to the first gear 26 constituted rotatably freely on a shaft 25 via a small gear 18 and idler gears 21 and 22, and is transmitted from the first gear 26 to the second gear 27 being rotated integrally with the shaft 25 via a slipping member. Therefore, the take-up reel board 30 is rotate in a direction opposite to that of the rewind reel board 34, thereby, the slackness of a tape can be removed, and when the removal of the slackness is finished, the slipping member and the second gear slip, then, the rotation of the second gear 27 stops.
