Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent correctly error judgement when deterioration of a catalyst is detected, and improve intake and desorption reaction of the catalyst without bring deterioration of running performance at the time of normal running, in the catalyst deterioration detecting device of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst deterioration detecting device is provided with O2 sensors P5, P6 provided respectively on upper and down stream sides of a catalyst P4 in a catalyst converter P3 provided in an exhaust system P2 in an engine P1, a deterioration judging means P6 for judging whether the catalyst is deteriorated or not by comparing output values of the O2 sensors P5, P6 with each other. And also it is provided with an air-fuel ratio feed back controlling means P7 for correcting a feed back correcting amount so as to set an air-fuel ratio to a target air-fuel ratio on the basis of a deviation between the air fuel-ratio and real air-fuel ratio, a range judging means P8 for judging whether it is in a range detected deterioration increasing control gain of the feed back correcting amount in relation to a non-detecting time when deterioration of the catalyst is detected by the range judging means P8.
