Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a capping apparatue. in which a capping operation can be mechanically performed even in the case of a container and cap with uneven dimensions. CONSTITUTION:Caps 10 heaped in a storage body 12 are transferred in one-block units to a lift mechanism 16 while being positioned by a carrier mechanism 14. The lift mechanism 16 lifts the cap 10 in the uppermost stage of transferred one block to a position in which the cap can be catched by a hand mechanism. In this case, the hand mechanism catches the cap 10, while drawing the cap 10 toward a predetermined position, to accurately position the cap in the axial direction of a plane 2. The hand mechanism in the state of catching the cap 10 is moved to a predetermined position by a moving mechanism 20, while a slide mechanism 22 slides the cap in the direction perpendicularly intersecting to the direction of movement to perform positioning of the cap in the transverse direction. Then, a pressure mechanism 26 presses the cap 10 to the opening of a container 24 carried on a roller conveyor 160 and positioned.
