METHOD FOR TREATING THERMOPLASTIC POLYESTER CONTAINER

PURPOSE:To efficiently conduct treatment of a thermoplastic polyester container for obtaining the one excellent in gas barrier resistance and moisture impermeability and useful for cosmetics, etc., by debonding-resistant treatment of the outer surface of the thermoplastic polyester container followed by coating the resultant surface with a specific coating agent and then drying. CONSTITUTION:At least outer surface of the barrel wall of a biaxially drawn thermoplastic polyester container is subjected to debonding-resistant treatment and then coated with a coating agent consisting of a 5-20wt.% vinylidene chloride-based polymer solvent solution followed by drying to form a coating synthetic resin layer. Besides, this synthetic resin layer is pref. coated with a second coating agent containing (1) a synthetic resin bearing a combination of hard surface-forming ability and transparent film-forming ability and (2) a photosensitizer followed by irradiating this coating agent with ultraviolet light to form the second coating synthetic resin layer, thus accomplishing the objective treatment.
