FEMALE CONTACT AND CONNECTOR WITH IT

PURPOSE:To provide a female contact improving the insertion workability of the female contact into a housing and preventing the damage of an elastic arm when a load is applied in the direction to extract the female contact and to provide a connector having the female contact. CONSTITUTION:Upper walls 28, 28 are partially folded back practically by 180 deg. along a seam face 26 to the rear ends of the upper walls 28, 28 of the nearly box-like contact section 12 of a female contact 10 to form projections 36, 36. The projections 36, 36 are provided on the rear end side of the contact section 12, and the insertion resistance of the contact 10 into the cavity 42 of a housing 44 is reduced. The contact area with the coupling face 48a of an elastic arm 48 is increased by the formation of the projections 36, 36, and the damage of the elastic arm 48 is prevented.
