DISC RECORDER

PURPOSE:To process continuous designation at high rate by predicting a seek position and seeking the head of a disc recording means automatically before read/write is designated by a host thereby eliminating the need of seek even if a defective sector is present. CONSTITUTION:A control section 11 controls the entirety to store a sector data from a host in a buffer memory section 12 thus seeking a head on a track designated to read or write. If a designated sector is defective, alternative sector information is stored in the memory section 12 otherwise the alternative information is written/read out from/to a memory section 2 to/from a designated sector. Upon finish of processing, the head is sought on an alternative track and an alternative general processing means 14 reads/writes a defective sector data in/from a sector designated by an alternative sector assigning means 13 using the alternative sector information. Subsequently, a head seek position predicting means 15 predicts a seel position which is sought automatically by an automatic seel means 16. This constitution allows high speed continuous read/write processing.
