COSMETIC

PURPOSE:To provide a cosmetic safe to human bodies, free from greasiness on the skin, having both of humectant effect and skin-smoothing effect, also excellent in skin-beautifying, ultraviolet light absorbing and skin aging-preventive effects. CONSTITUTION:This cosmetic consists of intact water extract or organic solvent extract of rice or a material containing such extracts. The cosmetic can be obtained by the following process: rice is crushed or ground into powder; water is added thereto followed by heating to boil; or at first, hot water is added thereto and carried out to extract to obtain a water extract, which is, if desired, put to squeezing and filtration to obtain a clear extract. An organic solvent (pref. to be safe even if administered to human bodies, e.g. ethyl alcohol) may be used in place of hot water and the extract exhibits a comparable effect.
