INFORMATION TRACK RETRIEVING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To always stably and highly speedily retrieve a desired information track without being affected by a track pitch difference. CONSTITUTION:This device possesses a traverse speed detecting means 25 for a pickup means for traversing a track by the output of a tracking error detecting means 18, a sensitivity switching means 26 for switching the sensitivity of the traverse speed detecting means and a reference signal generating means 31 for generating the speed reference signal of the pickup means at the time of retrieval. The retrieval speed is controlled by the output of a comparison between the output of the sensitivity switching means 26 and the output of the reference signal generator 31, and in the unstable state of information about a track pitch after the replacement of recording carriers, the stability can be enhanced by setting the sensitivity switching means 26 to make the track pitch to be in the narrowest state and, after clarification of the pitch, to an optimum value.
