PREPARATION OF FIBER MAT AND MOLDED ITEM AND PRESS MOLDED ITEM

PURPOSE: To produce a formed article at a low energy cost and having light weight by press forming a fiber mat comprising a mixed material of a high melting point matrix and low melting point bonding component while preheating only a plane area to be formed. CONSTITUTION: Fiber mat is formed by using polyester having a denier of 1-200 dTex and a fiber length of 5 mm or endless, polyamide, cotton, celulosic and/or viscose fibers as the high melting matrix and polyester or polyamide having a similar denier and fiber length as described above whose melting point is at least 10 deg.C or lower as the bonding component as the bonding component and by uniformly blending the above high melting matrix with the above bonding component in the blend ratio of 10-40% by weight. And, after preheating only a plane area of the mat to be formed between an electric heating plate of the same size and an opposite plate, under hot wind conducting condition at a temp. of 40-80 deg.C higher than the melting point of the above combining bonding for 30-180 seconds, the formed mat is continuously press-formed to the fixed form at a temp. of 30-80 deg.C lower than the melting point of the prescribed bonding component for 30-180 seconds.
