Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To save electric power necessary for control by arranging a half clutch portion of an electro-magnetic friction clutch at a specified position, and by applying another half clutch portion to a pressure generating device for generating hydraulic pressure independent of the direction of rotation. CONSTITUTION: In a braking time, a magnetic field is formed in a field winding 34 of a half clutch portion 33 arranged at a specified position on a short shaft 15, and this magnetic field makes the other half clutch portion 35 connect to a brake disk 13 by friction. The torque transmitted from the brake disk 13 to the half clutch portion 35 turns the half clutch portion 35 by 10 to 20% of one rotation, and is transmitted to a piston 25 of a pressure generating device 24 via a can track 38. Thus, the piston 25 moved radially outward discharges working fluid from a discharge chamber, and a piston of a clamping device 20 is pushed by pressure. The piston performs the axial stroke, and by this axial stroke, a friction pad 18.2 in one hand, and a friction pad 18.1 via a floating caliper 17 in other hand press the brake disk 13, and decelerate the vehicle according to the clamping force.
