Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide a friction brake for a vehicle that has no weak point as that in prior arts. CONSTITUTION: A driving power source for a clamping device 20 is a rotating wheel. A clutch is an electromagnetic friction clutch 32 co-axially mounted on a friction member 13. A half portion 33 of this clutch is arranged in a stationary state, and another half portion 35 is supported so as to rotate independent of the wheel, and further can achieve controllable friction engagement with the friction member 13. The half portion 35 of the friction clutch 32 engages with a piston 23 of the clamping device 20 in a rotation-engagement state by form-fitting. In addition, the piston 23 is axially displaceable for adjustment by means of a wedge drive device 25 that is independent of the direction of rotation.
