Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To lower a discharge keeping voltage and to restrain deterioration of discharge characteristics and contamination inside a panel by dispersing zirconium diboride in a metallic base, and using cathodes each comprising a layer of zirconium diboride formed on the surface of the metallic base. CONSTITUTION:A gas electric discharge display panel is provided with a front panel 1 made from a transparent insulating material such as glass, a back panel 2 made from insulating material such as glass and ceramics, and a number of anodes 3 made from indium oxide or tin monoxide and disposed on the front panel 1 as a pattern of parallel streaks. A number of cathodes 4 arranged in a pattern of parallel streaks are provided on the back panel 2 via a layer 7 of dielectric substance such as glass. The cathodes 4 are formed by printing and baking a conductive paste of silver or the like on the back panel 2 to provide trigger electrodes 8, and forming the layer 7 of dielectric substance in advance, and applying a nickel dielectric paste thereon by screen printing or the like. A paste containing zirconium diboride is printed in layers thereon and baked at predetermined temperatures. As a result, the gas electric discharge panel exhibits excellent electric performance.
