Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To use a catalyst that reduces the amount and/or size of particulates in diesel exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst brought into contact with exhaust gas of a diesel engine to reduce at least one of the amount and size of particulates in the exhaust gas contains a combination of a zeolite having acidic character and oxide of at least one transition metal or rare earth element. The formation of a sulfate by the oxidation of SO2 in the exhaust gas is prevented.
