METALLIC MOLD FOR PRODUCTION OF FERRULE FOR MULTI-FIBER OPTICAL CONNECTOR AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To correct average axis mis-alignment of the ferrule by regulating the pressure acting on the parts of metallic molds where V-grooves are formed at the time of clamping the metallic molds. CONSTITUTION:A body 112 of the lower metallic mold 106 is provided with the V-groove part 111 consisting of plural plural V-grooves 106a to be set with core pins 108, 109 of a slider 110. The upper metallic mold 107 is provided with a resin passage 107a. The slider 110 is set in the metallic mold 106 and after the metallic mold 107 is mated therewith, the metallic molds are clamped by a transfer molding machine and the resin is injected into the metallic molds from the gate 107a at the time of molding the ferrule. The ferrule is trially produced by using an adjusting plate 113 having a uniform thickness and the degrees of the eccentric centers in a direction x and direction y are measured at this time. Consequently, the ferrule free from the eccentric center is produced if the adjusting plate 113 changed in the thickness in the direction x or direction y is produced and the ferrule is transfer molded by using such adjusting plate.
