SYSTEM FOR CONTROL OF NETWORK ACCESS

PURPOSE: To accurately and easily characterize a traffic in a packet communication network. CONSTITUTION: A packet communication network characterizes various kinds of traffics in the network by relying upon several simple parameters, such as the peak bit speed, average bit speed, average packet burst length, etc. In order to more nicely express many traffic types, the same loss factor distribution is generated, but an equivalent burst length which is assumed to have no correlation with the distribution and to be exponential is used. Since the actual traffic distribution is expressed more accurately due to the access control and band width management based on the equivalent burst length, improved discriminated results are obtained.
