Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide a metal melting furnace which is extremely low in energy loss because metal and metal alloy raw materials are produced while the melting process is controlled at optimum melting conditions by a computer. CONSTITUTION:A lift 6 for a crucible mount 3 and a furnace main body 2 is installed on an external frame 1 of the furnace main body 2. The furnace main body 2 which is connected to the lift 6 is provided with a high-frequency melting/agitating coil 7, a cooling water inlet 8, a drain port 9 and others in addition to a heat-insulation cover 10 which covers a crucible 17 at the lower dead point of the lifting action. Furthermore, a melting furnace has a built-in fiber-optics type radiation thermometer 11 and PR sensor 12 which penetrate through the cover 10 and are used for non-contact measuring and controlling of melting temperatures inside the crucible 17, so that the inside of the furnace is automatically controlled at optimum conditions through processing in a computer 13. In addition, the metal melting furnace is equipped with an inert gas injection device 18 which penetrates through the cover 10 so as to produce an inert atmosphere.
