Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide a method of forming thermal transfer dye images improved by a recording element comprising a heat-diffusable dye or a heat-diffusable dye precursor and reduce undesirable fogging in a background zone. CONSTITUTION: A recording element comprising at least one layer of an organic photochemical image forming composition comprising a heat-diffusable dye (precursor) monomer [the layer is permeable into the dye (precursor) monomer] is exposed to an actinic radiation image-wise distribution to generate changes in permeability, and the recording element is brought into contact with an image-receiving element and transferred to the image-receiving layer to generate the reaction of a reagent present in the recording element, the image-receiving element or a fluid medium provided in the image-receiving layer with the transferred dye precursor to turn the dye precursor monomer into the dye in the method of forming thermal transfer dye images, and the recording element for use according to the above method is provided.
